The first stop on my roadtrip through the Pacific Northwest in 2023. We only really drove through the northern part of this state, staying a few nights in Portland before heading to the coast. Cannon beach, Seaside, and the entire drive up the coastline was stunning. We spent the day exploring Cannon beach and the adjacent Ecola State Park, where we discovered an overgrown trail leading to a frayed rope that assisted us down onto a rocky beach (see pictures). This beach was a highlight of the entire roadtrip. We had it all to ourselves and spent a few hours climbing rocks, searching tide pools, and relaxing in the sand. While we would have loved to camp there, the park technically closed at dusk and our car was already the only one in the parking lot, so we decided not to take the risk. Instead, we started our drive up to Washington, stopping at various pullouts along the way.
